On an unassuming plain in western Cambodia’s Battambang Province, vibrant and colorful stones are neatly arranged in perfect order, like a massive stone formation forgotten by time, awaiting skilled hands from afar to carve them into wonders that will captivate the world.

Xiaotian Mining’s stones – such as Four Seasons Pink, Four Seasons Green, and Fantastic Violet – are like the Monkey King bursting forth from a rock and soaring into the sky. They’ve shaken up the long-quiet stone market and captured worldwide attention.

Back in 2022, Xiaotian Mining made history as the first Cambodian company to showcase its top-quality stones at the 56th Marmomac exhibition in Verona, Italy, turning heads right from the start. The global stone market, with tens of billions of dollars of annual transactions, has long been ruled by classic stones from Italy, Brazil, and China. Now, the arrival of six standout products from a fresh Cambodian player became a game-changer. Industry experts say it’ s been years since anything this groundbreaking hit the scene, and Xiaotian Mining’s stone from the heavens seems to be rewriting the rules.

Xiaotian Mining’s stones are no longer just curiosities … they’re hot commodities on the world stage.

It’ s important to know that in a stone industry where prices usually stay steady, this kind of surge is unheard of. It’s a sign that the market is rethinking the value of rare resources: When something’s this beautiful and unique, people are ready to pay big.| According to the general manager of Xiaotian Mining, the price of the company's main stone varieties in 2024 rose ten-fold compared to the beginning of the year. Even at the high level, the

market is still optimistic about its trend - the price of Four Seasons Green in 2025 will rise by about 20% from its current level. These stones are unique; they’re quarried and supplied solely by Xiaotian Mining. Take natural pink marble— already a rarity. Then consider Four Seasons Pink, with its clever blend of pink and green veins, a combo the industry’s never seen before. It’s this originality that sent shockwaves through the market the moment they debuted. It’ s got all the makings of “causing a stir in heaven.”

Since Xiaotian Mining’s stones burst onto the international scene, top stone companies worldwide turned their sights to this corner of Southeast Asia, flocking to Cambodia to see for themselves. In just one year, Xiaotian Mining’s Battambang quarry hosted a flood of international visitors. Big names from Italy, China, India and other countries stepped on this unknown land just to see these stunning stones for themselves. I was lucky enough to tag along on one such trip. Late in 2024, I joined Xiaotian Mining’s team and ICE, the general manager of China’s well-known Xiamen Ice Stone Import and Export Co. Ltd. ICE told me that she’d just flown back from Australia and raced straight to Cambodia without a break.

For these visitors, it sparked fresh ideas – great products gave them the push to step beyond their usual boundaries. What’ s wilder still is that 2024 became an extraordinary year, with the world’ s top stone companies descending on this mysterious quarry. Mr. Xiao Guangfeng, Marketing Manager of Xiaotian Mining, says that the company welcomed customers more than 70 times last year – industry heavyweights, elite design teams, high-end project leaders, brand representative and firms eyeing overseas deals. Every visitor had the same mission: to be the first to secure the exclusive distribution of these unique stones, or to break out of their comfort zone and seek a different challenge!

The race for Cambodia’s luxury stones quickly led to big deals. In Europe, Italy’s Stoneval locked in exclusive agency rights with Xiaotian Mining. In Asia, China’s Lewin Stone Company also won exclusive distribution rights for “Four Seasons Pink” and other series of products in the Chinese market. Meanwhile, the Italian stone-industry leader, Antolini Luigi & C., teamed up with Xiaotian Mining, using their global high-end network to push these Cambodian treasures worldwide. In no time, Xiaotian Mining’s rare finds have woven a sales network across the planet, earning it “legend” status in the trade. With international clients pouring in, Xiaotian Mining spares no effort in reception. Xiao Guangfeng said that “he would personally go to the airport to meet every customer arriving in Cambodia.

“Most of them are coming to Cambodia for the first time and might worry about the place or safety,” he says. “So from the moment we meet, I tried to make them feel our warmth and professionalism.” On the way from the airport to the quarry, he would first introduce an overview of Cambodia and then dives into Xiaotian Mining’s story. It helps guests unwind and be happy to share what they have seen and heard about sourcing stone from around the world. When the on-site inspection began even these knowledgeable industry experts in the face of a wide range of stone deposits in front of their eyes, still cannot help but marvel again and again.

For example, Francesco from Antolini is full of praise with the colorful Fantastic Violet. He carefully observed each type of stone in the quarry and assessed their market potential. He called it “nearly impossible to find anything like this purple with pink and green veins anywhere else.” Another Italian, Luca from Stoneval, fell hard for Four Seasons Pink. As Xiao Guangfeng recalls, Luca – who’s toured more than 200 quarries globally – was floored by its pink-green mix. When he first saw Four Seasons Pink, he repeatedly praised the combination of pink and green as “perfect, very bright and full of design,” a unique stone he had never seen elsewhere. Other international counterparts are also singing Xiaotian Mining’s praises. ICE, a veteran in China’s stone scene, said the mine healed her. She was shocked by the neatly arranged stone materials of various colors, standardized site management, and the ability of Cambodian mining enterprises to carry out equal cooperation with top Italian companies. She’s convinced these unique materials “will set trends in the stone world and the first choice of designers.”

Mr. Bora from Turkey describes the quarry of Xiaotian Mining as a “treasure trove of art” with a variety of unique color combinations that he has rarely seen in mines in other countries. This rich and rare aesthetic makes the stone products of Xiaotian Mining have a natural advantage to stand out in the market. With the spread of the world network, Xiaotian Mining’s products stepped onto the global stage and entered many high-end application scenarios. The stone graces the lobbies of luxury hotels in Italy, to the wall decorations of the Museum of Modern Art in New York City, to the interior furnishings of landmark buildings in Australia, and even the religious shrines in Asia. These colorful stones originating from the deep mountains of Cambodia are being integrated into the top spaces around the world. For Cambodia, the rise of Xiaotian Mining’s marks an important step in bringing the country's industry into the global high-end market. For a long time, the global luxury stone market has long been ruled by Italy, Brazil, and Turkey, making it difficult for newcomers like Cambodia to enter the mainstream vision.

For a long time, the global luxury stone market has long been ruled by Italy, Brazil, and Turkey, making it difficult for newcomers like Cambodia to enter the mainstream vision. But Xiaotian Mining’s rare resources and smart global moves have let it "pass on the curve,” building a brand and snagging top clients fast.

It proves that in today’s world, unique assets and sharp strategy can carve out a spot in even the toughest industries, no matter where you’re from. Xiaotian Mining is set to become a leading company in the global stone industry, setting new trends for natural stone. This “one stone” from Cambodia already made a huge impact in the industry … and it may soon shake things up even more.

On March 14, 2024, during a special meeting at the Vatican, Pope Francis received a rare gift from Southeast Asia: the first statue of himself carved from Cambodian marble. Crafted with care by French-trained artist Mr. Chen Xiaowen, the statue was made from Xiaotian Mining’s Imperial White marble.

The late Pope looked the piece closely, flashed a warm smile, gave a thumbs-up, and then praised its stunning beauty. He even signed the back of the statue and blessed it. According to Mr. Chen Xiaowen, the Pope called it "exquisite, full of peace and friendship," and delighted to add it to his collection.
