SFA: What's the Answer?

Printed-Surface Quartz

Cesar Luevano

How are you guys liking the new miter-only-edge , non through body quartz?

Oliker Atrian

Never seen that, what are the benefits?

David Stout

Oliker Atrian,it’s made like porcelain kind of from the ones I’ve seen. Has a printed surface. The benefit is that the color pattern is closer to natural stones than a lot of quartz products.

Pacer Ames

Can you post a picture of what it looks like?

Jack Short

I heard about that. Don’t see the benefit unless it’s almost free.

Stü Pedassle

It's fine I guess, if you want a bright white rim on the UM sink hole. Better for TM or vessel sinks.

Andrew Trevino

Crap I hate trying to explain to customer about the white edge. even trying to vein-match is stupid; it takes longer.

Josh Hartzog

We’ve done a few and they’re a breeze to work with. We explain and provide photos of what a 3cm sink cutout looks like and that the edge will have a small white line at the polished corner. You can charge more when you explained they should miter the backsplash on exposed edges.

Nick Stambaugh

I like it. We don’t sell too much of it tho.

Andrew Trevino

There’s a way to match the edge; you need to leave a 1/16 gap in the edge and fill with color. It’s just a pain

Dustin Aust

Seems they took a class on making a bad product worse.

Alex Lisney

I’ve heard lots on stories of colour fade in the top surface and some colours turning pink.

Andres Es

It sucks.

Robert Berg

No benefits at all. The company that makes Dekton® and some porcelain companies are trying to figure out ways to get the pattern to go through or similar. Basically they’re moving backwards.

Edgar Soto

inHad a customer that wanted so bad their counters in one of these printed quartz. My question is how does it wear out? I know this material hasn’t been out that long, but does it discolor, fades, or wear out fast -- meaning the print? How about in windows at full sun exposure?

Audrey Halquist

Edgar Soto UGM states their printed quartz has a 10-year warranty on the print. Not sure if that is for all of them though.

Jane Danielson

Edgar Soto I wouldn't put any quartz in a window unless it specifically states it's UV-stable. The majority of quartz products aren't UV-stable.

Chris Mills

It’s not for me.

Drew MacDurst

Just did a 4-slab job to go into a houseboat. A lot of work with mitred skirting everywhere but looks great and easy to work with. Cuts grinds and polishes like butter

Steve McIntosh

It’s ok, like it better than porcelain for countertops, but don’t love the line at the miter..

Clint Ray

I like the printed quartz better than porcelain. But prefer neither.

Joseph Edward

Not selling it. Fading issues in the samples turning green.

Jane Danielson

Joseph Edward, which brand? Also, was it exposed to sun or the elements?

Teresa Inglehart

Cuts easy but homeowners hate the edge once they actually see it and not just AI generated picture.

Nathan St Germain

Having customers run into our place getting it ripped out not walking. Looks like laminate when it's done.
